About Us

Michelle Brinsfield, Chair of the United Way of Mineral County

It’s been an exciting year to be part of the United Way of Mineral County! Despite the economic issues facing our community, the citizens of Mineral County continue to be extremely generous with their resources. In a time where the need is greater than ever, we have been blessed with donors who have helped us to reach, and even surpass, our fundraising goal of $100,000.

A special “Thank You” is due to volunteer campaign chairperson Kay Vaughn. Kay has worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this year’s campaign and our community is a much brighter place due to her efforts.

What does reaching our goal mean for our community? It means that care and funding for over 3,000 of our most vulnerable citizens won’t be interrupted. Children will continue to receive after-school care and summer programs; abused women will have a place to seek shelter; our handicapped workforce will continue to be productive and we will be able to provide for the needs of those who need it most.

This year also marks the first year of impact funding – money designed to go where the need is greatest. After a lengthy process, after-school and summer programs were selected to assist educators in lowering the county’s drop-out rate. Several United Way agencies combined to create proposals for amazing programs that are certain to produce positive results. It’s wonderful to see our agencies collaborating to solve a community problem!

The staff, agencies and countless volunteers of the Mineral County United Way thank you for your continued support and invite you to join us as we – LIVE UNITED!
